So we’ve made it to May. Time for the April showers to spawn some flowers. Aside from meeting my goal of getting 20 aliens in my Cosmic section (still need to clean that up), I’ve also finished the legwork on another big project I’ve been working on.
At the start of April, I set a rather grandiose goal for myself: To write and draw out the first chapter of a comic idea I’ve been toying around with for years. I figured that if I’m ever going to make it, it was time to actually make something tangible. And I succeeded. I drew up all the panels for my new comic Wakeup Call. Now I just need to do a bit of proofreading and post it on the site. There is a question of whether it should be put in Projects or Artwork, but I think I’ll put it in projects since it’s meant to be more of a continuous endeavor.
I learned quite a bit while making the comic. For one thing, I learned that I still need to learn much more about anatomy and perspective if I want to make something artistically impressive. It also might not be feasible to make the comic in my typical vector style long-term. I might actually have to switch to digital freehand if I want to make it work. I definitely like these characters, and it helps that they’re all mine this time. I hope I can one day earn some fanart of them.
You can expect the comic to be posted within the next few days. Until then, I still have another few projects I’m trying to get off the ground. I’ll let you know how those develop once they get somewhere. Make the most!
