Power to Gorge
Gains Extra Pods and Ships
Whenever you draft pod(s) or receive a resupply, use this power to draft two additional pods from the same source.
Whenever you would revive ship(s), use this power to revive two additional ships.
Legacy: When drafting pods and receiving a resupply, all aliens receive an additional pod. When reviving ships, all aliens revive an additional ship.
After discovering that pods were more than a delightful topping on their flrobo cream, the Gluttons decided it would be cool to own a few more star systems. Wielding an unlimited appetite, they always end up taking more than what they need, as no one wants to get in the way of a foodie and its dinner.

Modifications
- Original Super Glutton wins the game if a Cosmic Quake occurs, taking advantage of its ability to draw more for an alt-win condition. This Super flare violates my “no alt-win” rule, and also my version of Cosmic doesn’t have Cosmic Quakes.
- Glutton’s legacy gives everyone an abbreviated ability to gorge, marginally increasing the total amount of pod drafting and ship revival. Aliens that can draft pods easily highly favor this one, while aliens that value ship advantage do not. Original Cosmic has no legacies.
Tips
- Since Glutton has no inherent ability to draft pods or revive ships, it needs to use the standard means to do so. Spending lucre goes much further for Glutton than for other aliens, making it more valuable. Receiving backward bonuses and warpfall are also more valuable for Glutton.
- Be wary about commissioning Glutton as the defender. Even if it sends one ship, it can get a minimum of 3 bonuses from a victory.
- Glutton can be more liberal with its ships since it can get them back more easily. However, if it gets deactivated before it can do so, this will backfire. Glutton should prioritize its home bases if it wants to throw around its ships.
Development Notes
- Glutton is another alien that makes me wonder how its power works in-universe. How does a strong appetite correlate with gaining pods and ships. It only makes sense in a highly abstract sense, as pods and ships are weapons and not food. My interpretation is that Glutton simply takes more than it is owed with its power, using the more generalized definition of gluttony that is nearly synonymous with greed. I see it as one of those reality-bending powers that partially grants Glutton its wishes. Were Glutton’s power to be enhanced over millennia, it would start gaining more dominion when gaining dominion and winning multiple matches when winning matches. Though that starts crossing this power over with Winner, so perhaps their desires are restricted to the resources
- Glutton got me to revisit the concept of Cosmic Quakes and the question of what happens when the forge runs out of aur. For me, the answer is simple since my Cosmic can manifest as many pods as I want. It has me thinking again of the idea of pods being manifested from nothing when drafted instead of coming from a visible stack of pods. It also makes me wonder how many different aliens should have their own pool, in the same vein as Mutant. Mimic, Masochist, and Glutton are all examples of aliens that could thematically have their own pool, but it could theoretically apply to any alien that drafts pods with its power. It makes me wonder if any alien should get its own pool or if Mutant should still get one as compromise for removing the ability to steal pods from others.
- Originally, my idea for the legacy simply gave everyone Gluttony’s power, but I think cutting the bonus in half is more reasonable and makes it feel more like a legacy. It makes powers feel more unique when the legacy form is not as potent as the real thing, and Gluttony’s power being able to be cleanly cut in half lends itself well to this idea.
